Sabine Süsstrunk ( is full professor in the School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC) at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where she leads the Images and Visual Representation Lab (IVRL) since 1999 and the Digital Humanities Institute and teaching section since 2015. Her research areas are in computational photography, computer vision and machine learning, and image processing. She has published over 150 scientific papers, of which 7 have received best paper/demos awards, and holds 10 patents. Sabine is a co-founder of the start-ups Darix and Largo Films. She is also member of the foundation council of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) and a member of the board of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR). Sabine received the IS&T/SPIE 2013 Electronic Imaging Scientist of the Year Award and IS&T’s 2018 Raymond C. Bowman Award. She is a Fellow of IEEE and IS&T.
